"Hoea te waka" Toro Pikopiko Puppets in Okuta Bay, Taupomoana

Carvers who worked at Okuta Bay in the 1970s, Whakamoenga Point.

The eponymous tupuna Ngatoroirangi Rock Carving. The sculpture of Ngātoroirangi, and the smaller sculptures of tūpuna (ancestors) and kaitiaki (guardians) nearby were created in the 1970s by Mr Brightwell and a team of four others: Jono Randell, Te Miringa Hohaia, Dave Hegglun and Steve Myhre. It was at the request of Mr Brightwell's grandmother, Te Huatahi Susie Gilbert, who asked her grandson to create a likeness of Ngātoroirangi to create a permanent connection for her family to the land. With no suitable Tōtara tree available, Mr Brightwell journeyed on to Lake Taupō for inspiration.

Perry Fletcher of Rangitane whakapapa and is our Pukenga, Historian and Researcher. Perry Fletcher has researched and written many commissioned reports for New Zealand government departments and local body authorities. Also for forestry, electric power companies, and Māori organisations. His reports have covered relevant historical and environmental backgrounds.

After a group of people from Northland visit the wall a Kuia from Waitaha said "We know these people, they are before our time".

Kaimanawa wall

A secret glen surrounded in prehistoric ancient beech trees is the location of an anomaly. Some say it is a pyramid, others say it teleported to its present location, and others have dissolved into tears at their first touch of the wall that emanates an unknown energy.
